Sliding Scale Fees & Discounts

For Criminal and Contested Family Law matters, the Glencoe Law Office offers income-dependent fees on a Sliding Scale basis.

Although the professional legal services provided by the Glencoe Law Office are rendered at prevailing fair and reasonable market-rate fees, you may be eligible for Sliding Scale fees with proof of annual income from your most recent tax return and/or or recent pay stubs.

The Glencoe Law Office uses the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Poverty Guidelines to determine eligibility for sliding scale fees at the deepest discounted levels (up to 70% off of market-rate legal fees).  The 2014 HHS Poverty Guidelines are available online at:

Example #1:  You have an annual combined family income of $19,000 and have three dependents.  Your legal fees, before adjustment are $1,000.  After adjustment ($1,000 - 40%) your legal fees are $600.

Example #2:  You are a single person who lives with your parents or with friends, have no dependents, and have an annual income of $35,000.  Your legal fees, before adjustment are $600.  After adjustment ($600 - 15%) your legal fees are $510.

Example #3:  You have an annual combined family income of $11,000 and have 5 dependents.  Your legal fees, before adjustment, are $2,500.  After adjustment ($2,500 - 70%) your legal fees are $750.
